Title
The designs of the Apache Indian bone chokers developed from necklaces the Apache of New Mexico wore during batlles in the 1800's with other tribes and the American invaders. They believed it provided them with protection from harm. In fact, bone choker necklaces did help to protect the warriors neck during battle.

They were generally composed of hair pipe tubes that were decorated with silver beads and red glass beads. Leather spacers were used to align strands of beads in the desired design.
